Browsing the net to find out about the upcoming events in Florence, I came across the info about the new and exciting exhibition, entitled NATALIA GONCHAROVA. A Woman and the Avant-Garde, from Gauguin to Matisse and Picasso. In the announcement on the official website of Palazzo Strozzi, it is stated:

‘Produced and organized in conjunction with the Tate Modern in London, the exhibition sets out to celebrate the great Russian artist Natalia Goncharova, a central figure of the avant-garde movement in the first half of the 20th century, showcasing over 150 works and juxtaposing her multi-faceted output as painter, costumier, illustrator and set designer with works by such artists as Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Umberto Boccioni.

The exhibition – the first that Palazzo Strozzi has ever devoted to a modern woman artist – allows visitors to discover the outstanding vibrancy of Natalia Goncharova, the leading “Amazon of the Avant-Garde.” Capable of turning her own life into a work of art, Goncharova played a pioneering role in redefining the position of women and forged a thoroughly personal and original approach that combined Matisse’s joyful palette with the constructive force of Picasso, Gauguin’s primitivism, the dreamlike atmosphere of Chagall and Boccioni’s dynamism.’
