On 12 February 2019 (the 8th day of the new lunar year), the audience in Skopje witnessed the “Awakening”, a modern dance spectacle, performed by the renowned Guangdong Song & Dance Theater from China. This spectacle was organized as part of the celebrations for the Lunar New Year, in the spirit of the cultural cooperation among the Central and Eastern European Countries and China. Before the show, Madame Yin Lixian, the ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Macedonia, emphasized the importance of the cultural collaboration between China and Macedonia, wishing prosperous year to both nations.
The spectators at the Macedonian National Theatre took pleasure in the poetic and sometimes evocative choreography, great dancing and beautifully chosen music. I truly enjoyed the entire show. The Chinese dance ensemble started its European tour with the performance in Skopje.
